Student Guidelines
Welcome, John!
Please read all the guidelines below carefully before you begin your studies. These guidelines outline the platform rules, academic expectations, communication standards, and technical requirements. Adherence to these guidelines ensures a productive and respectful learning environment for all University of Georgia E-Learning students.
1. Platform Access & Login
Personal Login Credentials
Your login credentials are strictly personal and must not be shared with anyone — including family members, friends, or classmates. You are fully responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
Secure Password Management
Use a strong, unique password for your account. Change your password immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised. Contact support for password resets via the Support page.
Single Active Session
Only one active session per student account is permitted at any time. Logging in from multiple devices simultaneously may result in automatic session termination and/or account suspension.
Always Log Out
Always log out of the platform when your session is complete, especially when using shared or public computers. Failure to log out may expose your academic data to unauthorized individuals.
Important: Sharing login credentials or attempting to access another student's account is a serious violation of UGA's academic integrity policy and may result in immediate suspension from the platform.
2. Code of Conduct
Respectful Interaction
Treat all teachers, administrators, and fellow students with dignity and respect at all times. Bullying, harassment, discrimination, or any form of disrespectful communication will not be tolerated.
Appropriate Language
All written and verbal communications on the platform — including chat messages, assignment submissions, and forum posts — must use appropriate, professional, and academically suitable language.
Appropriate Use of Resources
Platform resources including content, tools, and communication channels are for educational purposes only. Misuse for personal business, advertising, or off-topic discussions is strictly prohibited.
Reporting Misconduct
If you witness or experience any form of misconduct, report it immediately through the Support page. All reports are treated with the utmost confidentiality and taken seriously by the UGA administration.
3. Attendance & Participation
Minimum Attendance Requirement
Students are required to maintain a minimum of 80% attendance across all enrolled courses. Consistent non-attendance may result in academic warnings, grade penalties, or disenrollment.
Active Participation
Active participation in live sessions, discussion forums, and group activities is expected and contributes to your overall course grade. Passive attendance alone is not sufficient.
Absence Notification
If you are unable to attend a scheduled session, you must notify your teacher at least 24 hours in advance through the platform's messaging system. Unnotified absences will be marked accordingly.
Recorded sessions are made available for students who miss a class due to approved reasons. Access these through the Content section of your portal within 48 hours of the live session.
4. Academic Integrity
Original Work Policy
All submitted work must be your own original work. Copying from classmates, internet sources, or other materials without proper citation and attribution constitutes plagiarism and is a serious academic offence.
Examination Conduct
During online examinations and assessments, you may not use unauthorized aids, communicate with others, or leave the designated testing environment. Violations may result in a zero grade and disciplinary action.
Use of AI Tools
The use of AI writing tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) must comply with your specific course policy. When in doubt, consult your teacher before submitting AI-assisted work. Undisclosed use may be treated as academic dishonesty.
Consequences: Academic dishonesty may result in a zero on the assignment, course failure, suspension, or permanent expulsion from the University of Georgia E-Learning Platform. All violations are logged and reviewed by the academic committee.
5. Assignments & Deadlines
Submission Deadlines
All assignments must be submitted by the specified deadline. Late submissions will incur a penalty of 10% per day unless a pre-approved extension has been granted by your teacher in writing.
Submission Format
Ensure your assignments are submitted in the format specified by your teacher (PDF, DOCX, etc.). Incorrectly formatted submissions may be returned ungraded until resubmitted in the correct format.
Extension Requests
Extension requests must be submitted at least 48 hours before the assignment deadline through the platform's messaging system. Requests submitted after the deadline will only be considered in exceptional, documented circumstances.
Consistently submitting work on time and to a high standard will positively impact your overall academic standing and teacher assessments.
6. Communication Standards
Official Platform Channels Only
All academic communication between students and teachers must occur exclusively through the official UGA E-Learning Platform messaging system. Communication via personal email, WhatsApp, or social media is not permitted for academic matters.
Response Time Expectations
Teachers will respond to student messages within 2 business days. Students are similarly expected to respond to teacher communications within 24 hours during the school week (Monday to Friday).
Professional Tone
All written communications must be professional, clear, and respectful. Begin messages with a proper greeting and sign off appropriately. Avoid informal slang or abbreviations in academic communications.
7. Technical Requirements
Supported Browsers
Google Chrome (latest), Mozilla Firefox (latest), Microsoft Edge, or Safari on macOS. Internet Explorer is not supported.
Internet Speed
A minimum internet connection of 10 Mbps is recommended for smooth access to live sessions and video content.
Device Requirements
A computer or tablet with a working webcam and microphone is required for live sessions and proctored assessments.
Software Updates
Keep your operating system, browser, and any required plugins up to date to ensure full platform compatibility.
Experiencing technical difficulties during a live exam or assessment? Contact support immediately and document the issue with screenshots for your records.
8. Support & Escalation
